TIL that PG Wodehouse seems very popular in Italy (or at least was once upon a time)? I have to assume it's equally funny, or else why would this many books exist. But does the humor *translate*, or is it just a different thing with the same storylines? #Italy25

I did not realize it until now, but it appears there is an equivalent to Reinhold Messner for cycling, and it appears I saw him today. Almost tempted to cancel my plans for the weekend and hang out in that square in the hopes of finding him again. Dang, should have looked him up right away.

Came across this guy in the Prato della Valle in Padova today and wish I'd known who he was at the time. He's apparently 87 and holds several cycling records. Most of all: he's ridden down the Stelvio, at night, with no handlebars, lights, or brakes. #Italy25

A novel written in a kind of medieval-y "realistic fantasy" setting with a plot point that a day's ride from the town, deep in the desert, is a field of one thousand mirrors which a lost ancient civilization built for some unknown reason and laid out in a grid pattern. One character is obsessed with figuring out why. The mirrors face the rising sun— did they worship the sun? Is it devotional? Were they trying to show the sun to itself?
