He was a truly wonderful character, and an incredibly talented photographer. I had the pleasure of speaking to him a few times regarding HyperCard. He was a truly special person. :-)

I figure demand for the bundle over the single system forced them to do stickers and coupon codes. But yes saving $30 was def a big part of my calculus.

Bill Atkinson had a unique vision. Someone else just as unusual would have had to come along to encode the ideas he had into graphical expressions. They were not there for the taking, obvious in retrospect. Apple had several such people, unique in their realms, who somehow were able to align what they created into singular products.

So it seems like they changed their minds and made sure it was widely available. “Saving” $30 on MKW was definitely a factor in getting one at launch for me.

They just stuck stickers on a bunch of console only packs and shoved game code in the box. I was surprised before I saw this because in the past the game has always been pre-installed.

RIP. Something deceivingly simple like overlapping windows on a display was not so simple back when Bill Atkinson programmed it on the Macintosh.

Wish we had that feature on the iPad!
https://mastodon.social/@film_girl/114643717241762697
