The cost would be a rounding error on their balance sheet and would create immense goodwill in the dev community. But they don’t care and never have.</p>

<p>I rarely am in favor of discouraging indie apps from proliferating but here is a truth: Apple needs to Sherlock apps like Bartender or Ice in the next version of macOS. It’s been 5 years since we’ve had the notch on Macs and not having a native way to manage menu bar icons is beyond ridiculous.</p>
