<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> Last year during some project I&#39;ve managed to run into a hypervisor that doesn&#39;t emulate RMW instructions for virtual MMIO devices. Trying to `or` bits or `add` numbers into an emulated MMIO register, yes, not atomically, fails.</p><p>They only tested running Linux and it was Fine (tm).</p>
