<p>If you're wondering "why hasn't someone forked <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Nix" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Nix</span></a> yet":</p><p>There are a lot of logistics you need to be prepared for. In addition to <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/NixPkgs" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NixPkgs</span></a> maintenance, there is Nix itself. On top of that, what good is a fork if the same social structure is used and it also crumbles.</p><p>Careful thought and preparation are necessary here. If a fork is to be created it needs to clearly state its values, goals, and roadmap at the beginning.</p>
