I went from KDE 3.latest on Linux to MacOS around 2005, because I could not stand KDE 4 at that point in time–it was a mess.</p><p>If KDE now is usable, it means some people there have learned something and managed to ingrain it into the community as some kind of organisational knowledge.</p>
