So far it’s very “Google Photos, but E2E encrypted.” I don’t use a lot of advanced features, though, and I was really only looking for backup and hosting across devices.</p><p>I would’ve loved to use Proton Drive, which I already pay for, but their current photo addition to Drive just isn’t it right now. Maybe in the future.</p><p>(Also, Ente has an AppImage available which I’ve yet to try!)</p>

<p>Currently in the process of moving my photos from iCloud to Ente. Now there are only a few things left that I need to migrate away from Apple and to independent services:</p><p>- Apple Music (maybe Spotify? Or something else)<br />- iMessage (mix of Signal and other stuff, probably mostly SMS)<br />- HomeKit (maybe Home Assistant?)</p><p>I think that’s it. Once I’ve replaced these, I’m free to move between devices as I choose to.</p>
