@jbleuzen I'm coming from both really. I use MacOS at home and Win11 at work.

The apps are generally very good on Mac, but so far the apps I've needed have been fine in Fedora. It's just little issues that I need to work around that I wouldn't have to on the other OS's. Having said that, there were other issues that I had to work around on Mac too.

@basil hahahaha not a chance. I have a windows 11 license on my desk at the ready, but I want to give Fedora a good go first.

@basil the screen is probably the best thing about it, truth be told. It's bloody lovely and I haven't noticed any issues with the different ratio.

The build quality is very good, but the Mac is another level. For the upgradability (is that even a word?) I'm happy to forego a bit of bling.

Never seen another person use borland's turbo family of editors in 2025

I made a toy dos web wrapper of Turbo C++ a year and a half ago with js-dos! It doesn't work very well, especially if you have a mobile keyboard or even on Firefox where one of the keys don't work๐Ÿ‘€

Check it out tho! https://turboc.pages.dev

they ship an mshtml.dll that's 25 MB in size. i wondered if they somehow fit in WebKit there, but no, it's 25 MB of autogenerated fixme: messages for COM stubs

god is real, and he is evil

just discovered that creating a new WINEPREFIX makes it eat 1.7 GB of space and now i suspect i know why my 2 TB SSD is so full

i was creating a *lot* of them, basically for every application, assuming they were like... full of links to the real binaries or something

nope it copies almost two gigabytes of windows userspace into each and every one

at least it's fast
