I was so miserable in my academic existence I brought a resignation letter to my tenure review meeting--although unneeded since tenure was denied (whew).</p><p>Took an exit with no real plan. Muddled around for a year, but met my wife. Fell into some corporate training which morphed into my current gig of teaching and messing around. It&#39;s not academia, but it suits me and it somehow seems to work.</p>
