people say "trauma is not a competition" but consider this

imagine you have two very traumatized friends who ask you for help. you can only help one (you tell yourself so that you can live with yourself. your actual capacity is helping zero friends). how will you pick? a coin toss? the one you like more? the one who has it worse?

if it's the last one: congratulations, you've made it into a competition! both of them are very perceptive and know this

It’s a bit weird to think that I was alive at the period the Internet was truly global

right now more and more countries impose restrictions, companies withdraw their presence from entire continents… it’s still the Internet, but it’s not exactly the same thing

Make no mistake, if an outage similar to Crowdstrike would have been caused by OpenSource, there would be calls across the entire industry and at the government level to ban OpenSource from critical systems. But since it was caused by billion-dollar publicly-traded companies, nothing to see here, move-on.

#CrowdStrike #Linux #OpenSource #Outage #Microsoft

@kev Yea, unfortunately not everybody who uses their products are so objective. A few years back, I was talking to a good friend of mine who is a rabid Apple guy and he was mentioning that there was a new product coming from Apple (I don't remember which one). He literally said, "I don't know what it is, but I'm buying it." He literally had no idea what the product was or if he would have any use for it, but he was set on buying it anyway, just because it was from Apple. He's not alone.
