<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@film_girl" class="u-url mention">@<span>film_girl</span></a></span> RCS as standardized was designed for operators to implement, but all the operators that implemented it (AT&T, Vodafone, etc) dropped it, breaking RCS support in non-Google apps like Samsung messenger. </p><p>Google Messages falls back to a Google server for people without carrier support (which is, to an approximation, everyone).</p><p>If Apple implements the standard, and does not fall back to Google servers, will anyone actually end up being able to even use Apple RCS support?</p>
<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@negate" class="u-url mention">@<span>negate</span></a></span> Ah yeah, I assume you're referring to the technique some JITs use of switching an unoptimised / "more easily debugged" version of a function at safepoints when debugging is requested?</p><p>If so, then definitely aware of the approach. At the moment, I'm focused on better debugging of (typically AOT) optimised code _without_ switching away by improving debug info metadata in various ways to make that possible.</p>
