<p>Why I, an immigrant, sufficiently satisfied with my life abroad that I have chosen* to naturalise often say &quot;never emigrate&quot;:</p><p>I don&#39;t mean that living in another country is not a worthwhile goal. I mean that the system and side-effects of immigration – no matter where you choose to go – is complicated and scary and dehumanising in ways that you can&#39;t explain to someone who hasn&#39;t been through the process.</p>
