by an absolutely bizarre coincidence I have recently been looking into the whole "blow up a LiPo battery remotely" thing and while it is actually feasible for them to go off with a bang (despite people's adamant protests to the contrary, yes, they can really go off with some serious force in specific design circumstances, don't @ me) the images of the pager device alone are enough to easily convince me that the necessary prerequisites aren't there, so that theory is put to rest.

Is it now time to move on past my beloved Kitty terminal emulator? Now they want to bloat it with Nerd fonts built in.

I agree that patching in this way destroys the fonts. But the whole concept is a hack. I assume this is added so the maker no longer has to deal with bug reports & can point folks in the direction of _not_ patching fonts, but this now means the terminal is shipped with hundreds of useless glyphs… many of which are stupid-ass brands. With the tests now _requiring_ this font, Nixpkgs has the dependency too.

Heart is in the right place on this stance this time, but shipping bloat isn’t my idea good. I _love_ the Unicode picker so much & my least favorite part was trying to find certain symbols in the sea of Nerd font garbage, but since nothing rendered, it was easy to skip over these symbol visually & instead is full of noise.
