Finally, we know the answer to the age-old question of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

The answer is "My floppy drive"

Imaged my original disks. Two 360kb 5.25" disks.
They're laid out like this:
Disk 1:
CARMEN.EXE
CARMEN.DAT
Disk 2:
CITIES.DAT
MIDISND.DAT
DIGISND.DAT

@gamingonlinux a mich more needed thing would be connectivity between servers and outside the fediverse. I don't want to search, i don't want to type. I want to click on share, post, follow and it should do that. Not show me a text that I'm not on the right instance. :(

But yey, progress!

@gamingonlinux fucking finally, indeed!

This, I remember, was a big thing that made a surprising amount of people bounce off of Mastodon in one of the previous big Twitter fuck-ups a while back.

I get how it can cause problems, but it's also a generally great feature most other platforms have. So it's just expected.

Bluesky has a nice thing I hope Mastodon copies: quote detaching. So you can remove your post from people annoying you. Love it.

@gamingonlinux Heck yeah! It is something that is desperately needed

I also discovered that in the Amiga port, they redrew the crime computer to make it clearly an amiga. Cute!

@gamingonlinux I was curious and I just checked, the issue asking for quote posts is the number #9 feature request with the most likes on the Mastodon GitHub.

It's a feature I personally don't really care about, but I'm glad it's here if so many people want it.

I got my floppy copy in the mail, I just need to image it.

Fun fact from the box: It has a letter from the player character to their cousin, and I believe this is the only place in the game and associated media that they name your character.

It's Dale.
