That sucks.</p><p>My maternal great-grandparents came over ~1914-16 pre-revolution from Lithuania/Latvia and there were a few that smuggled themselves over the Polish/German border a few years earlier. <br />Even though I&#39;ve forgotten it, I grew up in Russian &amp; Polish speaking households. I&#39;ve always considered my family to be an immigrant family, FWIW.</p>

I&#39;m a 1st generation migrant from the East Coast and a 3rd generation immigrant from the &quot;old country&quot;. I once met a distant cousin of mine from Latvia; but, that was 30 years ago.</p><p>Aside from my daughter, the rest of my family remains on the East Coast &amp; we all kinda drifted apart once the grandmother&#39;s passed in the mid &#39;90s.</p>
