<p>Seeing more and more games on Steam have their AI generation disclosures like “don’t worry it’s just backgrounds, voices…and so on”.</p><p>If you can’t be bothered to make it, why should I be bothered to play it? Or write about it?</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> I'm reminded of the person who complained that the open source tools were too fast since their workflow involved clicking the program button on vendor GUI and then they had plenty of time to walk across the lab to press the reset button on their fpga board, but with iceprog it was done too quickly.</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> rustrover btw can do it</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://ioc.exchange/@azonenberg" class="u-url mention">@<span>azonenberg</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chaos.social/@gsuberland" class="u-url mention">@<span>gsuberland</span></a></span> ouch</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chaos.social/@gsuberland" class="u-url mention">@<span>gsuberland</span></a></span> (this is sufficiently important in principle that so will prjunnamed. what you should do is to use a frontend like Amaranth, which has no-undef-by-default, and also a bunch other stuff you want to do anyway if you're building an ASIC)</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chaos.social/@gsuberland" class="u-url mention">@<span>gsuberland</span></a></span> oh don't worry it will do (the equivalent of) that too</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> oh yikes it's optimised-out bounds checks but even sillier</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chaos.social/@gsuberland" class="u-url mention">@<span>gsuberland</span></a></span> I mean I wrote all of my thesis code in v2005 because I still had a lot of Spartan-6s in the test board farm and ISE was, well, ISE.</p><p>But yeah, early vivado was missing a lot of SV features that I now use heavily. Interfaces make e.g. AMBA buses so much less painful to use. My somewhat cynical opinion is that the ip integrator exists in large part because SV support wasn't up to the point of enabling one-liner AXI connections between modules.</p><p>So rather than fixing their frontend they created a giant bloated pile of XML and slow tcl+java based code generation.</p>
