<p>For those of you who still stubbornly insist on having faith in human nature, I regret to inform you that this sign is on a extremely clearly marked and signed tank (indeed, as a key attraction) of PIRANHAs.</p>

<p>There seems to be something about the culture of Rust, as a project, that allows it to sometimes act with incredible swiftness compared to any other software project and sometimes things just get into the "nightly-only experimental" pit and stay there for a shockingly long time. I don't know if it's just all the pro Rust users are running nightly and that's why there's no sense of urgency around stabilizing stuff</p>
<p>A thing I dislike about Rust is that if you want to return the IO error "invalid filename" this requires a "nightly-only experimental API". We have been waiting on this and several other normal-sounding IO errors to standardize since 2021.</p>
