<p>What I'm listening to today: "danaus plexxipus", Beek</p><p>Due to historical distribution methods, the "tracker sound" is bound up with low-fidelity samples. When a tracker song uses high-rate samples, it sounds like a magic trick.</p><p>This 2019 funk cruise produces fun cognitive dissonance by mixing CD-quality soul drums (the file is 2.4 MB for a 1 minute song!) with pure chiptune on every other instrument. You just don't expect those sounds together. A masterpiece of a game forever imprisoned on substandard gaming hardware (barring emulators of course, *cough cough*).<br />AND, those games are probably now all gonna be chained to that idiotic PSN requirement, meaning that contrary to one of the statements cited in the article, which talks about being able to "deliver their IP to more users around the world". PSN lock-in does the exact opposite through geo-restrictions etc.</p>
