@vriska@lizards.live Someone explained to me that in creative industries they don't actually want to sign good musicians because good musicians have options and can't be controlled. So they sign people they can mold into a facade of an artist.
@vriska@lizards.live I think by the end labels weren't spending the money on anybody. I remember the first time I heard System of a Down and their recording sounds like it was done in a hotel bathroom, it fucking sucks.
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://shitposter.world/users/sun" class="u-url mention">@<span>sun</span></a></span> then they blew the advance on drugs and broke up on tour lol</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://shitposter.world/users/sun" class="u-url mention">@<span>sun</span></a></span> when I was 19 I produced a local hardcore bands demo with only one mic for the entire kit and they got signed to a major label</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://shitposter.world/users/sun" class="u-url mention">@<span>sun</span></a></span> ngl I have never once heard a sweeping condemnation or criticism or &quot;explanation&quot; for raps popularity that wasn&#39;t at least a little racially motivated</p>
@vriska@lizards.live but like for example he showed the setup for a good drums recording session and showed how many drums and how many microphones, basically it takes a ton of equipment just to record drums.
