@mcSlibinas@river.group. The interference operation has been around since more than a decade ago. Cambridge Analytica and Facebook started it and interfered in 2016 elections, Cambridge Analytica whistleblower made it visible also in the same year.

I said 2016 elections was an "inference" as in "theory" of the beginning of social media's disinformation in global elections.

@neuronakaya my point: soc media inteferention was before Cambrige Analytica. Just it was clearly visible after Cambrige Analytica. That's it.
Cambrige Analytica not started interferention, make it more effective - yes, but no started.

@mcSlibinas and your point is?

@mcSlibinas no. It's old issue. It has been around for more than a decade now. We've experienced dictatorships in Asia. It's manifesting only now in the West.

in 2022, Chongqing experienced devastating wildfires. Local govt officials set up volunteer recruitment areas where they asked for manpower, money, and supplies including via social media.

Within minutes of announcing shortages, local citizens donated water, energy drinks, medicine. Local dirtbikers banded together to form supply trains for 5,000 emergency personnel in the hills. No one died and only 1,500 were evacuated.

https://www.mdpi.com/2571-6255/7/9/300

@lindsey@recurse.social I've railed against the use of the word "intuitive", but did not know of that paper. Thank you!
