Part of the problem is that it&#39;s virtually impossible to construct a proper experiment to do this, and there&#39;s a bias in many communities against more narrative-type descriptions (pro-nomothetic, anti-idiographic).</p>

<p>I began porting a variant of GCC&#39;s assembler for the ADSP-21062 SHARC until I realized the problem wasn&#39;t the code, but the errors were issues with automake. Building and installing an automake compatible with these &quot;obsolete&quot; macros allowed GCC to build first try.
