<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mapstodon.space/@adventure_tense" class="u-url mention">@<span>adventure_tense</span></a></span> the bad blood between AP and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://photog.social/@darktable" class="u-url mention">@<span>darktable</span></a></span> devs makes both projects poorer. </p><p>Ansel right now is unusable for Fuji users because its highlight reconstruction doesn't work for XTrans sensors, and AP refuses to port a simpler algo from Darktable.</p><p>And Draktable continues to suffer from the everything-is-an-option UI, one of the few thing AP was correct to fight against, and where his inability to work with people made it moot (I'm guessing).</p><p>I'm sure there are more things like that.</p>

Forking the darktable project is healthy for open source, and a good spirited debate, for different visions.</p><p>My only misgiving is how personally negative the Ansel developer is towards the developers at Darktable. <p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@shriramk" class="u-url mention">@<span>shriramk</span></a></span> <br />Nope - Prolog wins in this *one* situation (by not needing a special form) at the expense of general overall clunkiness ("X2 is X+1, p(X2)" instead of "p(X+1)") and context-specific semantics of where arguments are evaluated or quoted (which confuses beginners no end).</p><p>Picat tries to avoid Prolog's clunkiness with a more complex syntax that loses homoiconicity.</p><p>There probably is no "best" solution. (Or maybe homoiconicity isn't a panacea?)</p>
