<p>It’s still mind boggling to me how we went from wattage inconsistencies blowing up stuff to me charging my earbuds with a laptop brick like when did we solve this problem. I remember when we bought a wii from a different country and it like shorted when we plugged it in the first time and since then I would do like intricate checks to make sure the numbers matched up</p>

<p>Another brilliant thinker and author, James C Scott, has passed away. </p><p>I absolutely loved Seeing Like a State and plan to post a mastodon thread of excerpts and quotes from it, in his honor -- as soon as I've finished doing the same for Jane McAlevey's No Shortcuts. McAlevey passed earlier this month.</p><p>(The Art of Not Being Governed, and Two Cheers for Anarchism, are also great, but I only have the stamina for one of his books.)</p>

I like interface design problems broadly, but am particularly enamored with those in <a href="https://vis.social/tags/visualization" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>visualization</span></a> , <a href="https://vis.social/tags/HCI" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>HCI</span></a>, and programming interfaces. </p><p>I also like zines, bicycles, bison, and am pretty persistently mad about clippy</p>
