<p>More office cleaning. So many DVDs I don’t know what to do with. And wow they really went all out with that 2003 steelbook case didn’t they</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@tef" class="u-url mention">@<span>tef</span></a></span> deadlines just make it hell squared really</p><p>like it's so bad i would sometimes spend 40 hours not sleeping focusing on some completely unrelated thing, then not talking to my boss for a week, then coming up with some halfassed thing just to make him happy, then disappearing for a week more because i want to kill myself</p><p>it was really bad while it was unmitigated</p>
<p>There are a lot of opinions about how to teaching programming languages, but starting from scratch and implementing a hand-written scanner/parser in Rust is probably not the most gentle approach. Kind of getting a flashback to my whole "learn C by reimplementing the Unix shell... you have a week" assignment from operating systems. </p><p>In any event, learning a lot. Have parsing/evaluation of expressions working now. </p><p>Many exploded heads all around (including mine).</p>

<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> i find it easier to give in with external deadlines</p><p>that said at one job i went and asked 14 engineers as it looked as if i had to name a method "set_get" along with "set_post" and i was deeply unhappy</p><p>but no-one came up with a better idea so we shipped it </p><p>but uh, personal code? the only thing pushing me is intrinsic motivation and i , internally, am a huge code snob</p>
