it works!

This is a Raspberry Pi Pico W with a really interesting peripheral kit. You weave 64 bits of magnetic core memory with some provided magnet wire and ferrite cores, and then there’s a ROM for the Pico that gives you fun stuff to do with the memory and some programmable LEDs beneath it. It’s real weird and I had a ton of fun putting it together and poking at it with the magnetic stylus.

I don’t remember whether the Beaglebone Black was heavily marketed on its correct size for an Altoids tin, but that’s definitely the attribute I’ve most remembered it for. Also, I wrote 2G and there’s no way this thing has 2 gigs of memory. Sorry, Beaglebone Black; I never used your PWM capability nor your cool cloaking device.

Oh yeah, this thing! My partner left me some cute post-it notes and I taped them onto it. A friend gave it to me because they wanted the storage out of it, and they didn’t want the computer. Nobody needs this thing.

I was going to award this one “loudest”, but then I powered it on and it’s not louder than the powermac G4. It’s not the beigest computer I own, either. It’s not the chonkiest, oldest, or silliest. It’s not the most boring. What is this AOpen best at? I don’t know, but I do know I paid actual money for it, and that was probably a bad idea.

least interesting computer. not even going to get this one out of the box
