<p>I think my own personal favourite weird IC is the ScioSense AS3935.</p><p>it uses radioatmospheric signatures (spherics) to detect lightning strikes within 40km and tell you how far away they are with a 1km resolution.</p><p>(I have one in my drawer full of sensors, naturally)</p>
<p>weird footprints count but I have seen a lot of weird footprints (I follow the account by that name) so it may be hard to impress me on that front.</p>
