I spoke with K&amp;M yesterday, they&#39;re very supportive of this. We have a longer meeting planned later this week.</p><p>I was a mod here a few years ago, so I have some insight in how things work. I&#39;d like to keep things as is. I hope everyone will stay a bit longer while we work this out! 😊</p>

I run an instance that&#39;s here for off-road and outdoor types. Through that instance i&#39;ve connected with a new admin who has started his own instance for outdoors and firearm enthusiasts. </p><p>He has not received anything like a warm welcome here on the fedi. maybe you can guess why. </p><p>I worry that he&#39;s going to give up, or just get defederetated into oblivion. </p><p>It&#39;s like the fedi is only truly welcome for those who don&#39;t disagree with certain principles. and that&#39;s a bit sad. i understand the desire to keep low value speech and hate speech at bay. but i sometimes think we&#39;re looking for it. </p><p>I hope you find peace, and i hope you can find a way to remain on the fediverse. We&#39;re better when everyone feels welcome.</p>

Possibly because of following a small number of people, I was oblivious until a few days ago. I had bailed from Twitter (now X), &amp; fosstodon sounded like a good match due to having written a reasonably large Java class library and some applications that use it. I didn&#39;t know about a &quot;no politics&quot; rule - the &#39;Explore&#39; section shows political comments from other instances and it is not clear if a reply to those is OK or not.</p>
