<p>4/ And it turns out it&#39;s not actually universally true. *Thomson&#39;s* gazelles can walk soon after birth…but *Grant&#39;s* gazelles need two or more weeks before they are moving around.</p><p>So it&#39;s a mess all round, and the *book* (ironically, an AI book) starts the misinformation.</p>
<p>3/ It did have a useful nugget: that gazelles are precocial (so perhaps that running isn&#39;t that significant an achievement). So the book may be overselling the role of reinforcement learning here. But ALSO, that AI snippet has no citations, so I dug more…</p>
