<p>How you communicate best, I think, is by balancing the benefits of one practice (which you need to be able to express) against drawbacks and the benefits of doing something else, in a specific context. </p><p>Much of the problem with &quot;best practices&quot; is that they&#39;re isolated from context. </p><p>They are still useful intuitive guidelines for when alarm bells should go off when they&#39;re not followed, but a considered decision to break them is fine.</p>

This kind of contextual judgment is critically important, but very difficult to communicate.</p>
