<p>Goodmorning <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/fosstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fosstodon</span></a> and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fediverse</span></a> โ๏ธ Another update!</p><p>I had a call with <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@kev" class="u-url mention">@<span>kev</span></a></span> and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@mike" class="u-url mention">@<span>mike</span></a></span> yesterday. They took me through the admin workload and whoo. It's A LOT. It's seriously impressive how much they do in order to keep Fosstodon running, nice, and safe. They will stay on for a bit to help train successors. K&M THANK YOU again for all the hard work ๐๐๐</p><p>It's not going to be easy, and it will take a team, but it's doable. Immediately after this toot I'll post what I'll need and next steps! 1/2</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@kev" class="u-url mention">@<span>kev</span></a></span> if youโre open to experimenting you also might want to try pop os. Itโs based on Ubuntu, but has snap swapped for flatpak by default, newer kernels (so generally better modern hardware support), a really nice window tiling manager in gnome. Iโve been very happy on this as a work os for the last year or so and it works well at home for gaming too.</p><p>They are going to release a new (non-gnome) desktop (cosmic) later in the year which looks great.</p>
<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> <span class="h-card"><a href="https://ioc.exchange/@azonenberg" class="u-url mention">@<span>azonenberg</span></a></span> I did a lot of ARM7TDMI work in the early 2000s with the Abatron BDI2000. That were some excellent devices. Ah, nostalgia.</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@btp" class="u-url mention">@<span>btp</span></a></span> same. And it's usually when we're face to face.</p>
<p>this is the worst computer game i've ever played</p><p>i haven't even managed to get the values of every core register yet</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> I'm not going to ask why you're trying to virtualize your keyboard.</p><p>But I'm guessing it's something <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://digipres.club/@foone" class="u-url mention">@<span>foone</span></a></span> would approve of.</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://ioc.exchange/@azonenberg" class="u-url mention">@<span>azonenberg</span></a></span> i'm virtualizing the firmware of my Yamaha MIDI keyboard. that i bought in 2025. it comes with an ARM7TDMI</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> Side question: what cursed thing are you doing that requires interacting with an ARM7TDMI in 2025, rather than a Cortex with ADI?</p>
<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://bsd.network/@guenther" class="u-url mention">@<span>guenther</span></a></span> oh yeah it's much less bad</p>
