<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/@rcombs" class="u-url mention">@<span>rcombs</span></a></span> a lot more of my friends are on Bluesky than here, despite being a pretty OG open/nerd, with likely top-5% follower count here, and having invested a loooot more time here. </p><p>I&#39;ve made some new friends here (ironically, I&#39;d count <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@danilo" class="u-url mention">@<span>danilo</span></a></span> as one of them!) but the bottom line is that network effects cut off a lot of people, that&#39;s why large networks win even if your only goal is &quot;only friends, no &#39;followers&#39;/influence&quot;.</p>
