<p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/uspol" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>uspol</span></a> <br />I remember when the supreme court ruled against gay marriage. People protested and held sit-ins and complained online.</p><p>Our Mayor, Newsom, Said, "Screw you. My clerk of courts will marry any gay couple. What are you going to do about it?" </p><p>And there were lines down the street of people getting married. And THAT is why we have same sex marriage now. Not because of a protest, not because of a lawsuit, but because a democrat just went ahead and said, "Do it and let them come for me".</p><p>I hated Newsom until that day. Since then, I still sometimes get irritated with him, but because of that one decision, I've backed him for decades.</p><p>We need to be that way if we are going to survive this. We need democrats who are in power and willing to take real risks.</p>
