<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://piggo.space/users/piggo" class="u-url mention">@<span>piggo</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://lain.com/users/lain" class="u-url mention">@<span>lain</span></a></span> <br />Well, Starship is contracted as NASA's moon lander for Artemis III, and also a way to get a lot of the necessary fuel into orbit.</p><p>Maybe they have a plan B, but if Starship ends up working to the spec, it will be the cheapest (per kilogram of payload) way to get a lot of stuff into orbit.</p><p>Also, during these tests, blowing up is Starship's equivalent of abort(3). Anything goes slightly wrong -> starship blows up so that it doesn't fall as a large chunk in an unexpected place.</p>
