current status: running my system off a type-C NVMe drive enclosure plugged through a type-C to type-A cable through the Beagle 5000 USB analyzer and then into the desktop

if i remove the USB analyzer, which does nothing, from the chain, my desktop crashes if i try to `apt upgrade`

why?

well, the NVMe drive enclosure probably (my USB PD debugger is broken because i fucked up a firmware upgrade) expects to negotiate more than 7.5 W over type-C and the NVMe drive brownouts otherwise
