Though I wonder how much that *actually* happens in the US? I guess it's not a thing I've expressly looked for when eyeballing the bibliographies of Western popular histories. But there are clearly many indirect, "trickle down" routes (like PhD ⭢ book ⭢ magazine article sources ⭢ pop hist).</p>
