<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://urusai.social/@nazokiyoubinbou" class="u-url mention">@<span>nazokiyoubinbou</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@gamingonlinux" class="u-url mention">@<span>gamingonlinux</span></a></span> so far Bluesky has talked a whole lot about how open they are but it really should come with some major asterisks attached, as everything actually meaningful about the service is still centralized</p><p>you can host your own PDS but if their servers go down that PDS is useless</p><p>maybe they get to actual decentralization, maybe not, but given they're a for-profit company I don't understand how they simultaneously sell subscriptions to make money and stay "open"</p>
