<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> the name "songti" is named after the song dynasty and essentially just means "serif". some argue that "mingti", similarly named after the ming dynasty, is the proper name while "songti" is a misnomer, but as far as i can tell the two names are practically interchangable.</p><p>it is generally used, similarly to latin serif, as the normal font of choice for main body text. the popularity of microsoft word means when you hear "songti" they probably just mean "simsun"</p>
