<p>Something that I think those in power have forgotten is that things like the right to protest, strike provisions, human rights legislation, etc are the *compromise*. </p><p>By stripping those away, it's just as illegal to march from A to B as it is to drag them into the street and beat the shit out of them, and that's usually a damn sight more effective.</p>
