I thnk you may have misunderstood what I meant. I actually agreed. My point was that I'm non-native, but in most circumstances I have the benefit of not being the kind of person that is normally marginalised.</p><p>In other words, I meant that when employers in the west say "native speaker" it actually means "don't talk like someone from the global south". They're perfectly fine with non-native speakers when they're someone like me.</p><p>I take this as a reminder that it's very important to be clear when discussing these topics.</p>
