<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@mariyadelano" class="u-url mention">@<span>mariyadelano</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@liztai" class="u-url mention">@<span>liztai</span></a></span> The Verge article isn't the first time someone in the media has accused us all of being liars and thieves.</p><p>I've been advocating for the adoption of true <a href="https://c.im/tags/seostandards" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>seostandards</span></a> for over a decade.</p><p>Unfortunately, a majority of people have found excuses not to even try to establish standards.</p><p>As long as that remains the case, we'll be under fire as an industry that creates more trouble than we're worth. Regardless of how misrepresentative the accusation seems to some, it's basically true.</p>
