<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> this is true for chromatic transposition, where pitch relationships are preserved and it may result in tones that are no longer in the original key. there&#39;s also diatonic transposition, where notes are shifted up or down within the same key, so the exact pitch relationships are not preserved, e.g. a minor 3rd could become a major 3rd after a diatonic transposition.</p>
