<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@whitequark" class="u-url mention">@<span>whitequark</span></a></span> this is true for chromatic transposition, where pitch relationships are preserved and it may result in tones that are no longer in the original key. there's also diatonic transposition, where notes are shifted up or down within the same key, so the exact pitch relationships are not preserved, e.g. a minor 3rd could become a major 3rd after a diatonic transposition.</p>
