<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@isagalaev" class="u-url mention">@<span>isagalaev</span></a></span> “offended”, no, when only used as you say.</p><p>But “fat” is used so much as an insult that it can bring all of those associations. (Ex: “fat and ____”.) So an aware person must ask themselves if they want to bring those associations to their communication.</p><p>It’s similar to the word “queer” for me. I grew up only hearing it as an insult, so cringed at hearing it used as an umbrella/inclusive term. I now think it’s a good term. But non-queer folks should still be cautious when using it.</p>
