FR4, not air)</p><p>inductors are mostly just fancy coils of wire so there's nothing to stop you making an inductor in a PCB using loops of copper and vias.</p><p>here are four topologies: toroidal with rectangular interconnect, toroidal with trapezoidal interconnect, toroidal with trapezoidal interconnect and parallel outer pillars (vias), and a solenoid inductor with rectangular interconnects. I've seen the last type on a few designs.</p>
