That way everything is implemented in Python itself, but there's no "base" environment that can get corrupted.)

@mcc I somewhat disagree about uv, mostly because of the difficulty of bootstrapping Python in the first place. Conda solves that by having a single "blessed" virtualenv used only to bootstrap other virtualenvs, but that goes horribly sideways once one-off packages get installed into that base environment. Having a small statically linked executable in place of that base environment can cut a lot of dependency loops.

By the way nobody asked but I think that both rewriting pip in Rust (uv) and rewriting TypeScript in Go are catastrophically bad decisions, with rewriting TypeScript in Go being a slightly worse decision. The self hosting nature of TypeScript was such a huge benefit

First visual contact by the lookout in a week as we approach the TSS near the coast of Brazil. We hope the northerner ocean currents will help carry us through the doldrums if the winds fail.

@gamingonlinux given that the Xbox app on their own OS is so unpopular (where Steam thrives) it's hard for me to imagine an Xbox handheld that takes people away from Linux handhelds (assuming it doesn't support Steam games). I think the primary market would be people already in the Xbox ecosystem
